Having tested and re- tested our game with children and parents, we found a good visual identity for Coxy thanks to the famous illustrator Tony Rochon from Auvergne, it was time for us to embark on crowdfunding to finance the game and present it to a wider audience .
There are several crowdfunding platforms on the internet and we chose to begin this experience with Ulule.com which is the first crowdfunding platform in Europe. For the last three weeks the team at MagicSquare continued working in three teams to prepare our campaign on Ulule.
The team of ants focused on the content for the Ulule campaign to present the game, defining the different levels of rewards and prizes. The team of ladybirds, lingered on improving the visual identity of the games and provided the board and the box of the game. While the team of bees organised the communication on social networks and email marketing.
To introduce the game but also the context of its creation and the team, we shot a video last Tuesday (in very hot conditions!!!!).
With all these elements, Nicolas was able to submit our project to Ulule to be pre-approved and on early Thursday evening the page of “The Hunt for Bugs” was live on Ulule .
After 3 days of campaign, we achieved 22 % of our goal and we have the pleasant surprise of being recommended by people we did not know at all!!! Because people giving the first donations on crowdfunding sites are family and friends … we were not an exception on this one!
Now nothing is settled yet because we have until 12 September to reach our goal ( and ideally surpass it!), so far Ulule works on the principle of all or nothing. The adventure Ulule goes well beyond our financing needs, it is also an opportunity for us to create a community around the game by encouraging people to share their ideas and give feedback to improve the game with us.
